Frédéric Forest – ‘Silhouette’

In July 2023, Frederic Forest began an artist residency at La Maison de la Chapelle in the South of France. Since its inauguration, it has hosted artists & innovators at the crossroads of social change x artistry seeking new perspectives through a creative residency program. Within the ancient walls of an 11th century monastery, the focus is on work and conversations that transcend disciplines, mediums, generations, cultures in an intimate and welcoming setting.

During his stay, Frédéric focused on a series of abstract paintings and created an in situ mural. This research quickly evolved into a series based on a Provencal theme using materials found on site. While the mural is a sensitive and abstract homage to the surrounding landscapes, it was accompanied by other large scale paintings on varying supports such as tablecloths and sheets, all made to be used and evolve over time.
